Last weekend I was at the Walk to Emmaus. This week I am on vacation, taking some time to rest and fully contemplate how God is at work in our midst. These past couple of weeks have been a time to reflect and live into the renewal that God is setting up; preparation for what still lies ahead of us.
Next week, we (along with several other churches in our District) will gather for our annual Charge Conference, the business session of the church which established the outline for our ministry in the coming year. We will gather and vote on: Who is going to lead us? Where we are going to use the resources God has given us stewardship of? And, how we are going to fulfill the Great Commandment of loving God and neighbor as well as the Great Commission of making disciples? Charge Conference really is a time of reflection and recommitment to our purpose as the Church in the community that we serve.
So, I suppose, it is also a great time for each of us, as members of the Church (and our Parish), how are we going to do the same? How are we each going to use our time, talents, presence, prayers, and witness to affect the world in which we live? How can we individually strengthen the Body of Christ?
Always pondering,
Pastor Steve
